Head to Viñales Valley, about two hours west of Havana, and explore the rolling hills of cigar and coffee farms. Better yet, roll your very own Cuban cigars on the farm and take them home with you.

Another activity popular in Viñales Valley is to schedule a horseback riding tour of the surrounding hills. Before going to Cuba, I had always heard about the culture and history but never the nature. This experience allowed us to see some of the beauty firsthand and it didn’t disappoint.

Some of the best coffee I’ve ever had was in Cuba. On your visit to Viñales Valley, be sure to stop by a coffee farm to learn more about the growing process and take home some freshly ground beans for yourself.

No matter where you go in Cuba, you can be sure to find people salsa dancing at night. Whether you’re joining in at a nightclub in Havana or in a town square in Viñales Valley, you’ll probably need a bit of refreshing on your skills before you jump in with the locals. If you’ve seen pictures of Havana, you’ve probably seen the classic old cars that roam the streets. The old cars are some of the most prized possessions to the Cuban people, and you’d be remiss going to Cuba and not hopping into one of them. In Havana, you can pay to drive around in one of the cars for a while and your driver will also take you to some of the most popular tourist spots during the drive.

Nightlife in Havana is not something to miss on any trip to Cuba, but one of my favorite nights out actually started at an old jazz club called La Zorra y el Cuervo. Jazz has been hugely popular in Cuba for centuries and it feels like you’re able to step back in time while watching the musicians on stage.
