ALASKA
Alaska has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and in 2021 I was finally able to make it a reality! The unbelievable beauty of this state is breathtaking and can only be understood in person.
THE BASICS
Alaska has been on my bucket list as long as I can remember and in 2021 I was finally able to make it a reality! The unbelievable beauty of this state is breathtaking and can only be really understood in person.
When to go
Due to its latitude, much of the state of Alaska goes into almost-complete darkness during the winter months. While I traveled there in September, the best time of the year to explore the last frontier is during the summer months – June through August.
What to do
- Go Bear Watching: Book a guided tour to a waterfall, river, or lake to witness bears hunting for salmon. This was by far my favorite activity of the trip.
- Tour Denali: Book a bus tour of Denali National Park, the park containing Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America.
- Go Whale Watching: Book a whale watching tour down in Kenai Fjords to see those and many other native aquatic animals.
- Ice Hike on a Glacier: Book an ice hiking tour of Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords for one of the more unique experiences in Alaska.
