LAOS
THE BASICS
With Vietnam to the east and Thailand to the west, many people forget about Laos, the landlocked middle sister in Southeast Asia. However, this can be somewhat of a blessing, as the lack of tourists makes for a somewhat untouched landscape and culture that is perfect for explorers.

When to go
Like much of Southeast Asia, Laos is best visited in the winter months (November through March) to avoid the large crowds and scorching heat. I personally traveled there in January, and while it wasn’t hot then, I was definitely in need of an umbrella.
What to do
- Explore the Blue Lagoons: Outside of Vang Vieng are gorgeous natural blue lagoons that shouldn’t be missed.
- Attend a Jungle Party: Vang Vieng is definitely the party capital of Laos and is widely known for its Jungle Parties.
- Attend the Alms Giving: Every morning in Luang Prabang there is an Alms Giving, where the local monks will stroll the town and collect offerings.
